Day 60?

Okay, so I have completely dropped the ball with keeping up with the blog, but I HAVE been taking photos. We kinda got off track around Christmas when Ryan got a very important job interview and then left to visit his family in North Carolina. Due to unforeseen circumstances we missed 2 weeks of workouts. Then we found out that Ryan would have to leave to train for his new job (yes, he got the job! Yay!) a week before our actual 90 days is up. Soo, looks like I will have to finish up by myself. But I am going to take photos before he leaves (which will be like...day 80ish?) since I don't know who will be there to hold the camera on my REAL day 90.

Over the Christmas break I went shopping with my mom and sister and was VERY VERY excited when I tried on a size 6 jeans and they FIT! I am astounded, flabbergasted and otherwise SHOCKED that I managed this, even while eating some not-so good for me foods over the holidays. I cannot even recall the last time I wore a size lower than a 7. I am going to say maybe 9th grade? So I am now officially smaller than I was in high school over 10 years ago! Can you believe that?!? I sure can't!

I think Ryan has started to get a little bored of the same routine. He is now preferring the gym to working out to the DVDs and I have to really push him to get him to do them now. He still refuses to do yoga at all. So the end of this week will be the end of our p90x goal but definitely not the end of our fitness journey! We have learned so much and have never felt better (in between being sore!). I have already gotten 3 people I know to start p90x just by talking to them about my experiences. I am glad that I am in some way helping others get healthy and live a better lifestyle! I really hope the chain reaction doesn't stop there!

Now for our very very late 60 day photos!

Day 40

Yea, so I haven't been posting much lately... sorry about that. Phase 2 is going well, starting to see more improvement in my legs and the abs are still getting better. We have both kinda decided we don't like yoga and the last 2 times we have just gone to the gym instead. I am trying to add some more cardio to my workouts to get my leg blubber to go away. I decided to replace one of the arm workouts with some cardio and legs instead too, my arms are where I want them to be and I don't think I need to work them out twice a week, I really need to start focusing more on my lower half.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I know we are both going to destroy our good diets, lol. Then we are going to visit Ryan's family for the thanksgiving weekend and I am sure we will want to splurge a little. I am going to do my best to eat sensibly though. I can't believe next week we will be HALF WAY through P90X! I can't wait to see our results at day 90!

Day 25-30

The recovery week is a lot of stretching and the only 'real' workout is kenpo. I have to admit I missed working up a good sweat every day and doing the muscle building. I was starting to really get sick of alllll the stretching and yoga. So glad we are now into phase 2! I noticed the results have stalled somewhat this week, I am assuming this is the start of the 'plateau' we hear about so often that this second phase should knock out. I am pleased with our day 30 results, as we seem to keep making minor improvements each week.

My body seems a little in shock to be doing the weights again, I felt a bit sluggish doing chest, shoulders and triceps today and even felt I had regressed a bit during ab ripper. Hopefully by the end of the week I will get back into the swing of things!

Day 21-23

So we are now in our first recovery week. I am really excited that we get to start doing new exercises. I could definitely tell my body was starting to adapt to the phase 1 routine. I am definitely getting stronger and can feel my balance improving. I bought a couple of 5lb weights to use with my lunges and squats to get some extra resistance, and I bought a heart rate monitor/calorie counter watch on ebay today so I can see if I am pushing myself hard enough or not.

The most amazing thing happened yesterday! I went to the department store to buy a new pair of jeans. The ones I had were getting old and were starting to become really loose, to the point where I could pull them off without unbuttoning them. The ones I had were a size 11, which is what I have been wearing for the past year or so, I usually wear either an 11 or a stretchy 9. So I was expecting to pick up a pair of normal size 9 jeans. I brought a pair into the dressing room and tried them on. HUGE gap in the back and they still felt too loose. I thought there is NO way I can fit into a size 7, but GUESS WHAT!?! I tried on a pair of 7s and they fit great. A little tiny bit tight but I figured I will be losing some more in the coming weeks anyway, so I bought them! I was beside myself that I actually was able to get them on much less button and zip them and have them actually fit me! I have not worn a size 7 in probably about 7 years, since I was in high school! If I doubted the power of P90X before, this experience made me a believer!

We had our first round of Core Synergistics today and it's funny how introducing new moves takes me right back to how I felt in the beginning of P90X, uncoordinated and looking like I have no control over my body. It was interesting to try all these different moves that I have never seen or heard of before...Superman Bananas? I mean seriously! I am looking forward to phase 2 and our extra serving of carbs. I have to say I have been missing pasta and bread in my diet. We are still eating healthy and pumping in the protein. People have been amazed at the lean muscle I have been building! I can't believe we are already almost a third of the way done P90X. I will be posting our 30 day pictures this weekend! Woo hoo!

Day 20!!!

Made it to day 20! We took our photos and I can definitely see a difference in the back of my legs, butt (omg my thighs don't touch anymore!) and lower back. Ryan is starting to get more ab definition too! I haven't lost a single pound but the fat keeps disappearing! I am excited to see what phase 2 will bring!

Day 14-18

So I haven't been posting as often because it seems after the first couple of weeks everything is kind of the same thing, lol. I have been continuing to see results in the mirror and with the way my clothes are fitting. I noticed today that my underwear were even a lot looser than normal...yay! So We are getting close to day 20 and I will be taking another set of photos for comparison. I love looking forward to seeing the progress we are making! I tried on 'the shorts' again today and they were even looser. I even washed them to make sure it wasn't just from wearing them that they were feeling loose. I am definitely seeing a lot less of the cottage cheese on the back of my thighs. Looks like things are starting to firm up back there, even if the progress there is slower than everywhere else. Here's a photo!

We have been drinking lots of protein shakes. We use this stuff made by GNC called 'Amplified Wheybolic Extreme 60'. I drink about 3 of these a day. We also take a supplement before our workouts called 'Pre-Workout Ignition' by Six Star. It tastes like Hawaiian Punch! I am also taking a daily multivitamin now to make sure my body is getting all the good stuff it needs to repair and build me a good strong body! Here is a photo of our stuff if anyone is interested!
The DVDs have been getting easier and we even made it all the way through plyometrics without hitting pause this time! I am starting to do less and less modified moves and trying the harder stuff. I can do about 3 chin ups now too! I am already looking ahead into the future and wondering what we will do AFTER P90X. I have been looking at Insanity and thinking I might be crazy, but then again, that's what I said before I started P90X and NOW look at me! Cannot wait to see what day 90 will bring :)

Day 11, 12 & 13!

Well, we have completed week 2 of P90X! I've heard that once you get past this point, it only gets easier and the results get better! It was weird doing yoga by myself on Wednesday, but I managed to make it through the entire hour and a half without stopping! On Thursday I definitely did a lot better with ab ripper. It seems like every time I do it now I seem to do better.

Today was definitely interesting. Since Ryan's parents arrived today and are staying for the weekend we decided to get up early before work to do Kenpo. We got up at 6:30am (It was still dark out!) and trudged up to the gym (I don't think our apartment neighbors would appreciate us doing jumping jacks that early in the morning). I thought it was a lot easier this time, now that I have all the punching and kicking moves down. I think Kenpo is one of my favorite workouts. It really is fun and makes the time go by so fast but you can definitely tell you are getting a good workout.

Tomorrow we are going to Disney World with Ryan's parents so we will be getting plenty of extra cardio from walking around all day! Sunday we are going to the beach and I can't wait to show off my new muscles :) Everyone has been so impressed when we show them our results and they can't believe we have stuck with it even though we are both very busy people already!

Can't wait for week three! Bring It!!!!
